Worship at Wentz's United Church of ChristWorship Service: We gather Sunday mornings at 10:15 am to worship together as a community where we explore our faith and offer a healing alternative to the busyness of our everyday lives. We offer a variety of music from traditional hymns to contemporary songs. Our message challenges us and leads us to reflect. Our service is a work in progress as we explore our encounters with a living God in our daily lives.
Summer Service: Beginning the second Sunday in June or after Pentecost, whichever is later, we go to one Worship Service at 9:00 a.m. through the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Christmas Eve Services: We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior with three differing services on Christmas Eve at 5:00 pm, 8:00 pm. The 5 pm service is geared toward our children and youth, the 8 pm service is our traditional style service. We celebrate communion at each service, and conclude each one with the singing of the carol, "Silent Night" with candle lighting.
Longest Night Service: On December 21st we gather for a special service during the Advent Christmas season. Our Longest Night service is a contemplative service designed for those who need a break from all the busyness of the season, and for those for whom this time of the year is not joy filled due to life's situations.
Maundy Thursday: During Holy Week we gather on this special Thursday night to remember when Jesus gathered his disciples in the Upper Room for his final meal with them. We end the service with communion, followed by our Tenebrae service, in which we darken the sanctuary as we cover the altar, lectern and pulpit to symbolize the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.
Easter Day: We celebrate this most joyful of all days beginning with our Sunrise Service at 6:30 am on the west side of the church in the parking lot. The Journey Service is at 8:00 am and the Traditional Service is at 10:45 am. Communion is celebrated at all the services, rejoicing in the good news that "Christ is risen!"
Blessing of the Animals and Blessing of the Backpacks Services: During the month of August we have two special services at 9:00 am. Our Blessing of the Animals Service recognizes that our God is the master of all creation and we invite you to bring your pets to receive a blessing by the pastor during our outdoor service.
We also have a summer service to celebrate the gift of education as our children and teachers return to school. We invite all children to bring their backpacks for a blessing by the pastor.
Community Midweek Lent services: We participate in the community midweek Lent service sponsored by the Skippack Pike Area Ministerium on Wednesday nights during the season of Lent. In addition to worship, this gathering of the community offers fellowship and supports a mission project each year.
